Susan was born and raised in Staffordshire, the daughter of a miner and housewife. Susan has lived in Uttoxeter for the last 8 years and has been married to Alan for 14 years. Former founder member of a holiday club for children with special needs and disabilities Susan is now ready for a new challenge and welcomes the opportunity to serve the community of Uttoxeter town.
Susan started her education at Grange Infants and Middle School and later at Sandon High School all based in Meir, Stoke on Trent. Susan studied Secretarial Courses at Cauldon College in Stoke.
Susan stared her working life as an Office Junior for a Foundry in Fenton, Stoke on Trent, she then went on to work for ICL in Kidsgrove and later Manchester where she has gained all her PC knowledge. From there Susan worked again locally for a Solicitors in Longton, Stoke on Trent working alongside the Matrimonial Solicitor and also all Child Care Panel Cases. After the birth of her two eldest children Susan returned to her secretarial career working as PA to the UK Sales Manager at Staffordshire Pottery in Meir, Stoke on Trent, furthering her career to UK Sales Office Manager. Since the birth of her younger children Susan stayed at home to care for her younger disabled child.
Susan has lived in Uttoxeter for the last 8 years. Married to Alan for 14 years together they have three children the youngest who has Down's syndrome. Susan has two older children from a previous marriage and two step daughters. Their family was also blessed with a granddaughter just over a year ago.
Although Susan has never pursued a political career she has always been a supporter of the Conservative Party since she was old enough to vote. Susan is now a Conservative Party Member and volunteers in terms of delivering leaflets and canvassing and is looking to challenge herself within the Borough and Parish Council.
Susan’s hobbies revolve around her children. Susan’s younger boys and husband are associated with Blythe Cricket Club, and The ECBACO as both her husband and teenage son are officiated Umpires. Susan’s disabled daughter also attends a dance class which she has done for over 4 years and likes to be involved with any performances that her daughter attends.
Susan considers her biggest achievements to be all of her children and watching them grow into adulthood. Being a parent Susan has involved herself within school issues, becoming a member of the school PTA as well as a School Governor. Susan was also a founder member of a Holiday Club for Children with Special Needs and Disabilities and watched the charity flourish over a period of 4 years. Susan has helped a considerable number of families with disabled children in terms of public services and information.
