I worked19 years in management in private industry and then for over 20 years in healthcare, as Chairman of NHS Trusts and subsequently in senior management roles. I am currently Chairman of the Central Rivers Initiative, overseeing the regeneration of the quarries in the Trent Valley.
Born in the West Midlands and moved to Barton under Needwood in 1998 having lived in Elford for 21 years. My two sons, educated at John Taylor High School in Barton, are both pursuing careers in London.
I have supported the Conservative Party since I was 14, enjoying campaigning and the social life of the Young Conservatives. As a party member I have been Association Chairman and Hon. Secretary of local Associations and experienced the highs and lows of being election agent in local and national elections. I have been a locally elected councillor for over 30 years, representing Whittington & Fisherwick, Lichfield and Needwood Wards in that time.
I am a keen bird watcher and walker in the countryside. I also enjoy cooking, both preparing and consuming. Travelling to different parts of the world to experience different cultures and wildlife when funds allow.
I have a strong personal commitment to public service. Throughout my private and public sector careers I have demonstrated a high level of accountability and corporate governance, together with the ability to develop and deliver a strategic vision. I worked at senior management level in private and public sectors, in both an executive and non-executive capacity.
My local knowledge and love of the countryside, together with my energy and determination to achieve the possible and beyond, I believe has over the years earned respect from the many people I have met and with whom I have worked.
