Duncan is the Conservative Candidate for the Tutbury & Outwoods Ward in the Borough Elections in May 2015
Born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Duncan grew up in a rural community, attending local primary schools, and the William Brookes comprehensive school in Much Wenlock
After initially joining a management trainee scheme for Associated British Foods, Duncan has worked in the corporate and commercial insurance industry for the past 16 years. He has worked in Shrewsbury, Leicester, Birmingham and London for global broker Aon – and currently splits his working time between London and Shrewsbury as Operations Director for a niche Professional Risks broker, TLO.
Duncan lives in Tutbury with his wife, Katrina, and three young children, where Katrina and her family have lived for more than 30 years.
Although Duncan has no previous policitcal experience, he would like the opportunity to be able to represent the interests of the residents of Tutbury and Outwoods in a positive and pragmatic manner. A strong believer in local communities, Duncan is keen to work to protect the separate identity of Tutbury, Outwoods and Anslow. Duncan also has elements of commercial experience – particularly around Risk Management that would benefit the Borough.
Much of Duncan’s spare time is taken up spending time with his family, but is also a very poor and erratic occasional golfer. He is also interested in current affairs, modern US history, travel, and family history – where he has discovered that the Queen is the 15th Cousin of the wife of his 6th cousin 2 times removed, so practically Royal Family!
