Biography

Conor was elected as county councillor for Burton Tower division in May 2013. He sits on the safe and stronger and audit and standards committees on the council and is also a member of the Staffordshire and Stoke Fire and Rescue Service.

Education

Conor started his education at St Modwens Catholic Primary School and later Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic Sports College, both based in Burton. He studied Philosophy & Politics at the University of Southampton before studying law at the University of Law, Birmingham.

Career outside politics

Conor started his working life as a Lifeguard in Swadlincote and then in Derby. He also trained to be a receptionist at Derby City Council. He has just qualified to be a lawyer and is looking to secure a Training Contract at a national law firm. He is a Director of LGiU, a local government think tank.

Family / Where you Live

Conor lives in Brizlincote, a ward that he represents as a county councillor. He has lived in Burton all his life other than when at University.

Political career

Conor has been involved with the local Conservative association for 3 years, delivering leaflets and knocking on doors. He was elected as a county councillor on the 2nd May 2013 and to the Stoke and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. He is vice chairman of the scrutiny committee in this organisation.

Hobbies / Fun Fact

Conor’s hobbies include playing the guitar and mountain biking.

Achievements

Conor campaigned for a council tax freeze from the county council and the council delivered this pledge. He has also delivered road safety improvements across his division with the use of 20mph zones outside schools. He has been able to deliver a feasibility study to look at parking issues in the area and has worked with police on speeding on two main roads into Burton. He works tirelessly taking up individual concerns and supports many local sports clubs with his local community fund.
