Conservative choice makes himself at home
It has been over a year since Andrew Griffiths was chosen to contest the Uttoxeter and Burton Constituency at the next election for the Conservative Party. He was chosen at an open primary last year at the Pirelli Stadium in Burton.
A year of very hectic active campaigning on local issues has followed as Andrew hit the ground running. “I only know one way to do a job and that is to the best of my ability,” Andrew ventured.
To that end he has campaigned to prevent the closure of Post Offices, the loss of the Morning Postal Delivery, against the closure of Care Homes, the sale of County Farms, demanded a Referendum on the European Constitution, a Fair Deal for Dairy Farmers and the continuing scandal of Staffordshire Schools Funding.
Now comfortably settled in the constituency, he lives at Beamhurst, he has found time to get involved in the community, joining the Bradley House social club in Uttoxeter. Andrew was nominated for membership to the club by Norman Whittingham the club president and seconded by Councillor Geoff Morrison.
Norman is a Town Councillor for Uttoxeter and he commented, “It is great news that Andrew is joining us and I am sure he will be made very welcome.” Andrew went on to explain,
“I have chosen to make my base right in the centre of the Constituency for common sense logistical reasons. But apart from that it really is a brilliant place to live, work and relax. You get to know what concerns and matters to people by getting out and talking to them and what better way than over a pint of one of our superb locally brewed beers”, Andrew concluded.
