Brewhouse invites local residents to take part in street theatre

The Brewhouse Arts Centre is looking for enthusiastic people to perform as part of the upcoming Burton Children’s Easter Festival. The Brewhouse will launch its very own bespoke street theatre performance as part of the festival and is inviting local residents to help make it happen.

The Arts Centre is on the lookout for performers aged 16 and upwards to join two workshop days in March in preparation for a live street performance taking place in Burton town centre on Wednesday 30th March, as part of the festival. You will be guided though the process by our in-house performing arts leader and theatre practitioner, Maya Whatton, culminating in a collaborative performance of The Butterfly Peddlers. As the colourful ‘butterfly peddlers’, you will swoop in and take over Coopers Square and Burton Market Place, lighting up Burton town centre with your elegance, beauty and poise.

Our Conservative Councillor for the Abbey Ward, Colin Whittaker, Deputy Leader for Cultural Services, said “This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who would like to have a go at street theatre. We are not looking for experienced actors, just enthusiastic participants willing to get involved and help create something truly special in Burton centre and bring the Festival to life.”

The first workshop will be on Saturday 12th March from 1pm to 4pm at the Brewhouse Arts Centre, Burton upon Trent.
